From 18 November, new identity verification requirements will begin rolling out for company directors as part of the government's efforts to increase transparency and tackle fraudulent activity in UK companies.
What this means for you:
You’ll be required to confirm your identity before you can act as a director.
Companies House will provide several verification options, including direct verification and through an authorised agent.
Unverified individuals won’t be able to set up or manage companies.
Effective from 18 November 2025, so now’s the time to prepare.
Stay alert for official guidance from Companies House and make sure your company details are up to date.
If you’re a director, company secretary, or accountant — this change affects you.
